We picked Caroline and Mike up from Portland Jetport on Saturday. Caroline and I were secondary school classmates in Geneva, and we’ve reconnected since she and Mike moved to Switzerland several years ago.
After enjoying an evening in old Portland, we set out for Boothbay Harbor on Sunday. With a strong southerly wind, we set the spinnaker and made record time. That evening, we met up with local friends, Bob and Heidi, for dinner. Since the water was rough, we left the dinghy at the yacht club and squeezed into Heidi’s Prius. Yes, you can fit 6 healthy adults into a Toyota Prius.
Monday, after a fight with Fregata’s shaft brake (read next post), we sailed on to Seal Bay, our favorite anchorage in Maine so far, to enjoy the quiet, peaceful setting, uncomparable starry sky, and numerous seals that make it their home.
